Background

FurPaws, a dog grooming salon, is currently undergoing a complete brand revamp. The salon aims to establish a strong online presence and rebrand itself as a fun, inviting, and friendly pet spa. FurPaws seeks to offer a positive, eco-friendly environment with an easy-to-book and track grooming experience.

Problem Definition

FurPaws currently lacks an online booking platform, requiring customers to book grooming sessions by phone. This can result in missing necessary information and incorrectly booked sessions.

Research Goal

To understand the pet owner’s needs and concerns of booking a pet grooming session.

Research Methodologies

User Interviews

A total of 5 dog owners were interviewed. Three dog owners were interviewed in-person, while the others were interviewed remotely via Zoom.

FurPaws is an app for a dog grooming salon. It provides comprehensive information about the pet salon and features an intuitive online booking system that allows users to easily provide all necessary details for their grooming sessions.

Key features/design in the booking process include:

  • Repeat customer toggle button - enables auto-fill for rows such as pet’s name, size and breed

  • Service & pick-up date and time - accommodates users’ schedule

  • Text box to remark special needs - allows customers to share health and allergy information about their pets

The app features a pastel color palette to deliver a fun, inviting, and friendly vibe to customers.

Success Criteria

  • Achieve 80% of 5-star app rating on the App Store within first 3 months of launch 

  • Achieve an average of 90% customer satisfaction rate for the grooming session 

  • Achieve 80% of positive rating (4-star or above) in the post-revamp brand perception survey
